Promoting Safe Families

Safer Communities

 

1) To provide leadership in the elimination of family violence.

This will encompass: Education, training and advocacy, to include all socio economic, demographic and cultural groups within our communities.  

 

Objectives:

i) Provide stopping violence programmes for men and women

Ii) Provide education and support programmes for victims of family violence.

iii) Provide anger management programmes for young people.

iv) Provide social work services to families and/or individuals experiencing family violence.

v) Provide community education about family violence, its effects and strategies for change.

vi) Work in partnership with other organisations focused on family violence in the community.

vii) Take a leadership role in training and resourcing other agencies about family violence and its effects on victims.

viii) Work to build capacity in the community to effectively eliminate family violence

 

2) To further develop a well resourced, professional organisation.

This will encompass: Highly skilled practitioners engaged in ongoing professional development, effective resources, secure funding supported by strong governance.

 

Objectives:

i) Develop a strategy for ensuring the continuation of highly skilled people to be involved in the organisation at all levels

ii) Provide on-going training and development for all employees and board members

iii) Ensure a wide range of appropriate skills at governance level

iv) Ensure all necessary equipment and resources are maintained to meet the needs of the organisation

v) Ensure ongoing funding to fulfil the needs of the organisation now and into the future

 

3) To develop an ongoing communication strategy

This will encompass: Ongoing dialogue and relationships with organisations and stakeholders from all groups within our communities. Developing support structure for Dove

 

Objectives

i) Engage with other community organisations on a regular basis to network, share information and improve the profile of Dove

ii) Ensure regular media exposure

iii) Produce a regular newsletter

iv) Develop, maintain and promote a website. (find a nerd who can do this)

v)  Maintain membership of and contribute to associated national professional bodies and local community forums

vi) Develop a Friends of Dove HB group

 

4) To continually monitor, evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of our work.

This will encompass: A commitment to Quality Assurance. Collection of all relevant client data, client and community feedback, and assessing trends in family violence and crime statistics. Keeping current with research and effective practice and using this to enhance our work.

Objectives:

i) Maintain an accurate electronic client database

ii) Collect and analyse client evaluation information

iii) Provide professional supervision and review for staff. Provide staff with opportunities for professional development and support
